The Griffin Roar is excited to announce our first writing contest! April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate we will be holding a National Poetry Month Contest. All Fontbonne University students are welcome to submit poetry entries for the chance to win the Fontbonne Poet Laureate gift basket. Although there will be only one winner, any entries that receive honorable mention will be published on the Griffin Roar.

How to enter:

  • Email a max of 3 poems to griffinroar@fontbonne.edu by April 19. (Each poem counts as one entry.)
  • Subject line: National Poetry Month Submission – Your Name
  • Attach poems as a Word document and do not include your name in the document with your poems. (This is so that your poems can be reviewed anonymously.)

What you’ll win:

  • A $50 Amazon gift card
  • A Starbucks coffee mug
  • The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
  • A journal and pen
  • Your work published on the Griffin Roar

Once all submissions have been received, the Griffin Roar students will read each submission before deciding on a winner. The winner will be announced on April 26 and contacted by email.

Along with your participation, we ask that you also help us spread the word by encouraging any student you might know of who has an interest in writing poetry. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at griffinroar@fontbonne.edu.

I'm a senior and a Professional Writing major. I most enjoy writing about others, as well as giving helpful advice.
