Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us now are working remotely and completing online coursework to avoid unnecessary contact with the public. You may find yourself growing a bit stir-crazy and anxious to get out of the house. Or, maybe you’re struggling to find things to do in your spare time while still abiding by the government’s stay-at-home orders.

A few weeks into my own quarantine, I found myself asking the question: What would my childhood self be doing to pass the time while stuck in the house all day?

As a child, I spent countless hours entertaining myself within the confines of my own home. Sometimes I would find activities to do alone, but many of my fondest memories at home were either with my siblings or my childhood best friends.

For this episode of Story Time Spotlight, I decided to interview my best friend of 20 years, Ashley Askew. From Polly Pockets flying down the air vents to intense Mario Kart competitions, Ashley and I found plenty of ways to occupy ourselves as kids.

I'm a St. Louis native currently studying Professional Writing at Fontbonne University. My special skills include baking, playing music, and dishing out sarcastic comments. If I won the lottery, I would a buy Volkswagen hippie van and a lifetime supply of Nutella and take a road trip across the country with my dog.
